International Society of Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ISBRA)/APSAAR Joint Congress

On behalf of the Local Organising Committee, we invite you to the 3rd World Congress on Alcohol and Addictions. This will be the 22nd Congress of the International Society for Biomedical Research on Alcoholism (ISBRA) and will be co-hosted by the Asia-Pacific Society for Alcohol and Addiction Research (APSAAR).

The Congress will be held in Melbourne from September 23 to 26, 2024. Melbourne is a city of 5 million people, with the reputation of being the business, cultural, and gastronomic capital of Australia and one of the world’s most liveable cities.

The Congress will be scientifically compelling and multidisciplinary, building on the high standards of the past. The program is being developed with the International Scientific Advisory Committee, and will comprise plenary lectures by international experts, and parallel streams of symposia proposed by ISBRA and APSAAR members and conference delegates, together with roundtable discussions, oral papers and posters.

We hope you will consider Australia as an attractive destination to visit and combine your attendance at the ISBRA-APSAAR 2024 Congress with a welcome break. Peer Recovery Support Series: How to Use Films in SUD Treatment

This webinar will detail the Recovery Movie Meet-ups mutual help format, and the innovative motivational enhancements it can generate in the cognitive experiential process of change for individuals with substance use disorders (SUDs). The Recovery Movie Meet-ups format involves in-group viewing and discussion of carefully chosen films featuring characters with SUDs, as well as storylines and themes about recovery. The program is centered around discussions guided by a 190-page printed workbook that features a study guide to 20 films. The workbook includes discussion questions that participants can fill out during or after meetings as further integration of lessons learned in-group and reinforcement of their recovery goals.
